Fabric resident Craig Richards is launching a brand new festival called Houghton, with the first edition taking place in Norfolk next August.
Richards, who has been a mainstay of the British underground scene for decades, is working with Gottwood, who will oversee production. Richards himself will handle curation. The line-up includes a number of artists who Richards has worked with over the years at fabric. Headlining the festival will be Ricardo Villalobos, who will DJ and play live as one-half of VILOD (UK debut), alongside Max Loderbauer. DJ sets will also come from Nicolas Jaar, Seth Troxler, Floating Points, Sonja Moonear, Ben UFO, Midland, Andrew Weatherall, Nicolas Lutz, Binh, and Nightmares on Wax.
The festival will take place August 11th through to August 13th in Norfolk, in an area surrounded by a lake and woodland. Equipped with an extended license, the festival’s aim is to bring together art, music and sculpture—venues include an abandoned warehouse, a subterranean bowl and an art and sculpture park.
Richards adds “On first visit, I was blown away by the site. Not only by the sheer beauty of the setting but by the potential for its use as a gathering of like-minded folk. It really is quite exceptional.”
